Frequently Asked Questions
What do you do after the child has settled down? Is the problem solved?
When a child has lost complete control of his or her emotions, as can be the case in a temper tantrum, it can be almost impossible to reason or communicate with them. It is not until the child has calmed down that you are able to discuss the reason for the tantrum and deal with the underlying issue(s). Tantrum 911 helps the child to settle down gently and naturally so that this can happen. Tantrum 911 is not a substitute for good parenting, rather it is a tool to help good parents do their job.
Is Tantrum 911 a drug?
No. Tantrum 911 is a delightful fragrance blend that triggers a natural response in the brain. It does not have side effects and the effect does not wear off. Please note, however that we do not recommend that Tantrum 911 replace any medication that the child may be taking.
If I use Tantrum 911 to help my child calm down, will I need it every time they have a tantrum?
Tantrum 911 will not undermine your ability to deal with tantrums without it. Most parents who use Tantrum 911 actually deal with most tantrums on their own, and use Tantrum 911 when their child is particularly stressed or in situations where their child's tantrum is causing discomfort to others such as in a grocery store, on a flight, in restaurants, etc.
Does Tantrum 911 work with infants?
Often, when an infant is upset, it is because they have a specific need that should be met, in which case Tantrum 911 would not be the solution, rather their caregiver should try to meet that need. However, there may be times when an infant just needs help settling, and Tantrum 911 could be very useful.
Does Tantrum 911 work with adults?
Because smelling the fragrance causes the brain to stop all of its conscious activities and to produce dopamine, the natural chemical that helps us to recover from stress, Tantrum 911 helps not just children, but people of all ages to refocus and calm down.
Is Tantrum 911 an essential oil?
No. Tantrum 911 is what they call a manufactured fragrance blend.
What is the best way to administer it?
As with any fragrance oil, contact with the skin or eyes should be avoided. A good precaution would be to not allow the child to manipulate the bottle. Simply use the cap, a cotton ball or a tissue with a few drops of the fragrance on it. Send us an e-mail if you would like to see the Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheets.
Does Tantrum 911 work on all tantrums?
Sometimes children are crying for a specific reason, or simply for attention, and their episode may not end because of being offered the fragrance. Tantrum 911 works best on genuine tantrums where the child has lost control.
What if it doesn’t work the first time I use it?
Because all tantrums are not created equal and Tantrum 911 works best on genuine tantrums, don’t give up after just one try. Also, the child may protest at first, and even bat your hand away, but they just need a few moments to actually inhale the fragrance. Be persistent, but be careful to not cause them more stress.
